New Meds...

Warm but Wonderful

Die-hard Republicans enjoyed the hospitality of club President and former State Rep. Penny Pullen and her sister Pam at this year's annual backyard picnic. Braving 90+ temperatures, guests arrived bearing gifts from their kitchen. The picnic feast featured abundant fruit, appetizers, salads and yummy desserts to please every palate. A big thank-you to John Keane, Joe Tragesser and Bill & Lisa Smith for superintending the grill - and to Cyndi Hower and Carolyn McIver for seizing control of the cleanup. Elected officials and candidates also joined GOP faithfuls, who settled in the air conditioning or outside in the lovely, shady yard. Among them State Rep. David Harris, State Sen. Matt Murphy, Tax Review Commissr. Dan Patlak,former congressional candidate Dr. Arie Friedman,and Wheeling Township Committeeman Ruth O'Connell. Thanks to all who attended!

Upcoming Meeting

Republican Women of Wheeling Township will meet next Monday, June 13, at 7:30 pm at HQ, 909 E. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.

We'll be hosting Dave Smith, executive director of Illinois Family Institute.

Come learn what the state legislature has done to us (lately), and we'll also go over the new districts and lawmakers and candidates we and Republicans of Wheeling Twp. will be working with in the 2012 election. You'll find a description of the districts in the newsletter. (It won't be long before petitions are circulating for next March's primary!
If you can, bring some travel size personal care items for our friends at the Yellow Ribbon to ship to our troops overseas.

Dr. Arie Friedman on Obamacare

Thanks to all who came out to hear our featured speaker this month. What a great turnout! Dr. Friedman shared his knowledge on the monstrosity which lowers quality and leads to rationing of the finest healthcare around. Doctors are waking up to the regulations Obamacare imposes on their practices and some are exiting by retiring and/or finding other professions. This leaves us to wonder what kind of physicians will we have in the future. Dr. Friedman also spoke about Electronic Medical Records, Donald Berwick, bureaucratic growth, and Ezekiel Emanuel's healthcare formula.

The women's club will present Dr. Arie Friedman at HQ next Monday, March 14 at 7:00 pm with an update on Challenges in ObamaCare. See you there!

Baby Shower

Our women’s club hosted a “baby shower” for Caris Pregnancy Counseling Centers Monday evening, listening to Terra Vincent from Caris and contributing diapers, wipes, new baby outfits and other practical items for Caris’s “baby boutique.” It’s a caring way to help distressed expectant mothers decide to give birth to their babies.

Our club is hosting a “baby shower” Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at HQ, featuring the community outreach manager for Caris Pregnancy Counseling Centers. Those attending the meeting are asked to bring a new infant outfit or diapers or other smallish practical gifts for Caris’s “baby boutique,” supplying needed items to expectant moms who have chosen to give birth to their babies. It’s a wonderful work, and one we want to support for our community. All are welcome to participate in this gathering.

A New Day in the House

Former State Representative and club President, Penny Pullen and Wheeling Township GOP Committeeman, Ruth O'Connell were among Illinoisans who traveled to the nation's Capitol to celebrate the Republican majority. Congressman Robert Dold was one of 5 Illinois freshmen sworn in this week. Our club is proud to have helped elect him.
