Successful Spring Membership Luncheon

This year's featured speaker was Paul Vallas, prospective candidate for 2010 GOP Nomination to challenge Todd Stroger for County Board President. Mr. Vallas is a democrat turned Republican and former Superintendent of Chicago Public Schools. He is known for taking on difficult challenges such as reforming Chicago schools, the Philadelphia schools and, currently, the New Orleans schools. He shared some ideas about reinventing government (i.e. starting all over -from scratch) and the reasons why he would run, IF he elects to do so. He sees himself as a lifelong public servant accountable to the people. In this blue state that's a refreshing approach!
We had about 55 in attendance, including some new members. As always, La Zingara did not disappoint. Thanks to all who took time to join us!

Red, White and Blue Luncheon

Last Saturday,October 4 was a perfect day for the Republican Women of Park Ridge to host their Red, White and Blue luncheon at the Park Ridge Country Club. The featured guest Tony Peraica, Repubulican Candidate for Cook County State's Attorney gave a lively talk about his plans to cut waste and rid county government of corruption. Attendees were enthusiastically supportive of that agenda!

Illinois GOP State Convention

Republican women were among many in the Wheeling Township delegation this past weekend in Decatur. It was obvious by the attendance that there is tremendous interest and a desire to strengthen and grow the Illinois Republican Party. The potential is there and I was very encouraged! We networked with others, listened to speakers from legislators to party leaders. Even our nominee for President, Sen. John McCain who was with us via telephone. Members were also involved with voting on the convention floor. Our own Wheeling Township Committeeman and women's club chairman, Ruth O'Connell was honored with the Henry Hyde Excellence in Leadership Award!
