Robert Dold Featured at Women's Club Luncheon

Robert Dold was our special guest for lunch at Rolling Green Country Club this past Sunday. We had a good crowd of supporters for this future Congressman who talked to us about current economic policy and the impact it has on future generations. Our country cannot continue in a tax and spend mentality. As a small business owner, Mr. Dold understands the challenges facing small business owners and has a plan. If you would like more information on this issue and more, go to www.doldforcongress.com.

It's Constitution Day!

The United States constitution was signed on September 17th, 1787. In remembrance, September 17th is Constitution Day, a federal observance of the ratification of the document. Two hundred and twenty-three years ago today in Philadelphia, 39 men affixed their signatures.

A Great Way to End the Summer....

Our club's weeklong voter registration drive culminated in a wonderful celebration commemorating 90 years of women voting in Wheeling Township. New member, Sheila Hall told us about her distant relative, Carrie Chapman Catt, who was involved in the sufferage movement. RNC National Committeewoman Demetra Demonte shared her vision of a winning November, which left us inspired and hopeful.

Happy 90th Anniversary!

At last, a stunning 144 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed, women in the United States of America were finally given the right to vote! We do not often think of the struggle for Women’s Suffrage in these terms, but during the first 144 years of America’s 234 years as a country, women were excluded from the right to participate in government and the right to vote! It’s hard to imagine now, that for the first full two-thirds of this country’s history, women were known only as “Mrs. Henry Jones.”

Women’s right to vote came about only in the most recent one third of the life of the United States. Think of our history in terms of the opportunities afforded women in our society today. Socially, educationally, corporately, fiscally, politically, in almost every way imaginable, much of the advancement for the American woman has come about in the last 90 years. In a large part, that advancement came due to winning the right to vote.

We are asking the women of America, to celebrate! 90 years ago, after decades of struggle, ridicule and abuse, victory was finally at hand! On August 26, 1920, Tennessee voted for ratification of “The Amendment”. As the 36th state, Tennessee’s crucial vote tipped the scales of justice. It was the final vote needed to form the three-fourths majority of states required by the Constitution for ratification of the 19TH Amendment.

Women Finally had the Right to Vote!

In recognition of this historic event, and to honor the efforts of our great-great-grandmothers, we are celebrating in a way that we think would make them proud. August 23-26, 2010, the week of this 90th Anniversary, Republican Women of Wheeling Township will hold our 2010 Voter Registration Drive. You are invited to participate. Stop in at 909 E. Rand Road in Arlington Heights from 11am-7pm. Register to vote, or bring in a friend that needs to register.

Your Grandmother would approve!

It Is What We Thought It Was

Dr. Arie Friedman gave an informative and lively presentation this past Monday evening. He included passages from the monstrous ObamaCare bill itself and provided quotes from radical David Berwick, who will be appointed to head up it's implementation (more details to come on this appointment). The bill puts our healthcare in the hands of newly created government agencies, who will decide which procedures we can have and if we are worthy of certain treatments. Goodbye privacy (HIPAA). Doctors also have to fall in line with various standards aimed to limit their practices. Dr. Friedman didn't paint a pretty picture but all is not lost. That is why we have elections -let's get our candidates elected this November so we can stop this ever expanding government!
