President and Mrs. Bush visited Mount Vernon on President's Day and participated in a wreath presentation inside the tomb of President George and Martha Washington. Then, President Bush addressed visitors and guests at the Mount Vernon Estate in honor of President Washington's 275th birthday.
"America's path to freedom was long and it was hard. And the outcome was really never certain. Honoring George Washington's life requires us to remember the many challenges that he overcame, and the fact that American history would have turned out very differently without his steady leadership."
Click on the link to see some great photos of President Bush at Mount Vernon. This caused me to reminisce of the trip to Washington back in August '06. In the main building I was fascinated with photographs on the walls of various Presidents throughout history visiting Mount Vernon and the tomb.
